Whoever you are and no matter what you do in life, you may have fans and critics. Listen to them both.
WHY? Your fans will always praise you, give you some encouragement, cheer you up, say good things of you to you and to others, motivate and bring out more of the potential you have to improve what you are doing. Because they are your great admirers, they will hardly bear ill-feelings towards you.
BUT,
Anytime you screw up or make mistakes in life, they will hardly point at your errors. Their role at this point comes to an end.
NOW,
Your critics take over. Hear what they are saying about you. Even though some of them maybe driven by envy, jealousy, resentment, spirit of competition or bitterness, they can be great instruments in shaping you.
They keep you human, humble, repealing every root of pride that may spring up within you. They make you sit up and somehow, they can spur you to greater heights in life.
HOWEVER, REMEMBER,
They may never motivate you and so, beware of discouragement, false allegation, campaign of calumny, propaganda, frame up, false witness, and sundry malicious weapons in the hands of the critics. But take home what they say about you. Think on it, use it to check your life, be sincere and true to yourself when doing so.
If you find it useful, apply it to your life otherwise throw it in the bin. Note, it's more effective when a man tells himself the truth than for others to do because every man has the edge, over all men, in the knowledge of himself. And that a man cannot lie to himself, to God & to the devil. And, you may run out of critics if you choose to be your own critic. In other words, if you tell thyself the truth & act on the truth that thou tell thyself, thou may need no one else to tell thee the truth. We can lie to and deceive all men, but we cannot ourselves, God and the devil.
Never respond to your critics by trying to prove them wrong as this is may be an effort in futility. This is because they can never 'see' the good in you unless they choose to be objective, which is rare.
ULTIMATELY, ....
We have two ears. One, to hear our critics with and one to hear our fans with. With our only heart, we should hear God.
God knows who you are, the motives behind all you do and understands you even if you are misunderstood by everyone. God's correction is redemptive and not to pull you down like some of your critics.
FINALLY,
One of the pathways to living in liberty, is to live free of what people may think or say about you, whether good or bad. If I should try to generate happiness from what people say about me, then I will definitely have constant mood swings. I will feel good if they say good things about me (even if I have done something wrong); and I will feel bad if they say bad things about me (even if I have done nothing wrong).
I'm not infallible (not meaning one is still under the clasp of the devil, but that one is yet to be what is saved to be) that's why I'm a building and God almighty is the Builder, Jesus the Chief Corner Stone.
A work in progress. God is faithful to finish what He has started. Therefore, you’re what God says you’re; and by His grace, you’re who you’re!
I should be at rest. Why? God knows my deepest needs more than I do, and He is much more committed, than anyone else including myself, in quenching my thirst.
I'm becoming more convinced that God is not an author of discouragements.
And so, when it comes, we know who is behind it, the enemy. We never give the enemy a foothold!
